So I decide to jump in only ankle deep, not knee deep on a few Presidential medals. Well, what do you know, yet another medal with Rim Fin issues. It is starting to seem that the mint just doesn't care anymore, especially on medals. This Rim Fin runs from K2 to K8.

Quote: Your pictures have NO Scarring along the Reedless Edge? @MD, there is some vertical and horizontal "wavyness" showing (not sure how that happens). Harder to get good shots, since these are much smaller than the 2.5 oz medals.

Just checked my Washington - no fin to speak of on mine. And yes, Lincoln is due out this month #16 - I sent back and looked at the box of the last one I got and noticed that the S number is the order of the Presidents The last one Buchanan number is S815, Washington is S801, Adams is S802, etc.. Now to keep them in order, I don't have to remember which president cam first. just use the last 2 digits.. (a little self-pat on my back is now due, LOL) It only took 15 issues and 'Father of Morgan' to get me looking.

I'm going to have to measure the difference in rim width on this so we have a baseline so to speak. The rims look pretty high, even where there is no Rim Fin. MD obviously picked up on this delineation very early on...probably has a list of the Presidents by number, hanging on a wall somewhere We learned something today so, waking up this morning paid off!

Quote: there is some vertical and horizontal "wavyness" showing (not sure how that happens). The vertical lines are most likely small scratches incurred during ejection from the collar. the horizontal one you show in your image above (the one where I got this quote from) could just be a partial fold over of the fin.

Kind Sir's, I was talking about ON the Medals, Turkey !!!. Second, The Finning is More Around the Perimeter, Not as Tall as Previously discussed Medals, LIBERTY, MARINES, etc.... Just encompasses More of the 360 degree perimeter, than the Others, for ME..... Great Call Eagle Eye....

Measurements of thickness is, 3.05 on the non fin portion and 3.83 on the highest point of the fin, that's a 25.6% jump. Seem significant to me. Now I'm curious on the 2.5 oz'ers...

Couple Points, Your Both Turkeys. I do Not have a PRESIDENTS List , I have a Very Thick Ruler Type Tool that has the PRESIDENT's Pictures, Listed on Chronological Order.... I was FROM The start of Receiving the First Medal, George Washington, Our First President, Wanted the Simple NUMBERS Put into the Dies, That would mean they would have to make More Dies, Please Do.... LOL... I believe the Educational Purposes Alone for these Medals, and the Numbers would of Helped, Secure the Memory of These Powerful Men, Just a Tad More.... IMO...
