Personally, I don't listen to anything from anyone on Coin Vault. The mint is supposed to mint 2008 Burnished W ASE and in Proof.

The mint placed the following information on the bottom of the Schedule of Products page.

American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coin

Production of United States Mint American Eagle Silver Proof and Uncirculated Coins has been temporarily suspended because of unprecedented demand for American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins. Currently, all available silver bullion blanks are being allocated to the American Eagle Silver Bullion Coin Program, as the United States Mint is required by Public Law 99-61 to produce these coins "in quantities sufficient to meet public demand . . . ."

The United States Mint will resume the American Eagle Silver Proof and Uncirculated Coin Programs once sufficient inventories of silver bullion blanks can be acquired to meet market demand for all three American Eagle Silver Coin products.

The way I read into this, it appears the mint currently has a limited amount of silver bullion blanks and the proof and Uncirculated ASE are not their top priority. As soon as they can obtain more blanks, they will begin minting both Proof and Uncirculated ASE.

There was a rumor that they were only going to Mint two years of the Gold Buffalos too.....proved not to be true, but sometimes the "rumors" can be used to "sell more coins" too !....

I read about the Gold Buffalos myself. From what I remember they were to be in production for 1 year, and since they began in mid 2006, they were going to be produced again thru mid 2007, not to be done beyond that. I never read anything about it being amended to be produced annually, but I guess it was. If theres money in it the mint will make it. 2008 proof sets are still available, I dont understand why they were not removed from sale 12/31/08.
