I recently began collecting coins and I am doing pretty good on my own, except for I cannot seem to identify small and large dates of the 1960 and 1960 D Lincoln Penny. I read that the tails on the six and nine are longer on a large date, but I cannot see it even the one using my scope. This is starting to drive me crazy. Can anyone give me a easy way to identify them. So far this is the only Coin that has given me a problem. Thanks

@jdo, first welcome to CCF. Second, I think that the below CCF link will bring you to the information that you need:

Look at the length of the tail on the number six and the roundness of the number zero.

For a quick ID, I usually go by the shape of the 0.
A small date is almost an oval while a large date is round.

The '6' has a mark on the top of the lower loop:
New-Guy-Needs-Help-With-LMC-Identification.
All the small dates have this. The Philly small dates have a lower striking of them. The Denver ones are 50% of the large and small dates. So they are common to find. The Denver cents have the most RPMs that year on the listings.
