Just a coin that showed up in a roll of clad dimes. Could be environmental and could be an annealing issue. Just looks more light coppery color like an annealing issue than most of the environmental issues I've seen.
Maybe someone's science experiment. Heat it to red hot....let it cool for a few seconds....drop or dip in methanol. You have a copper looking coin....if you don't blow yourself up.
The edge of the coin is showing a color and areas where the color was removed, showing the normal color of the coin. Thus it is not a copper mix issue. (The higher areas are affected first when this copper color is removed from the coin, showing the real planchet color.
