Feeling hopeful as I begin this 274 year process of scrutinizing 2 of the 7 60qt. totes of pennies. I'm gonna be the little engine that could!

Are you cherry picking for grade or errors or varieties?

Make sure you know what to look for, otherwise you will have to look through them more than once.

Oooooohhh @John1 you have no idea how many times I've threatened myself, lol. Conveniently, I have a photographic memory. Downside is "um, where'd it go?!!"

@Dearborn right now there's not much rhyme or reason lol. Remember one of my first posts when I said I'm overwhelmed? Yeah, um I kinda still am I'm finding lots of stuff. I just suck at getting good pics (I read all the suggestions for that thread where a real life MacGyver on here put together a good set up). It's easy for beautiful 1 tone coins and such but trying to capture a quality photo is challenging. I'm sure with the more I try, I'll find that sweet spot. I have some pics now but scared to post them. I never knew I drag so well through mud lol. I am willing to post 1 or 2 as long as everyone is aware that I'm aware they can use some tweaking. I have the stuff to do it but it's 100% user error.

Well, dive right in. Wash your hands frequently. Handle coins by the rims--don't want to add fingerprints to coin surfaces.

Maybe post a quick summary at some point? Percent wheaties? Percent copper vs. percent zinc?

Been there, done that! It's a LOT of fun to go through them! I separated by date and then picked the best of the best and put them into 2x2's and then into an album. Looks like you might have some very nice one's there. I keep extras in a 5 gallon glass jug for the copper content.

Have fun! I think you will. You never know what you'll find!

Who knows...you might find a '55 DDO or a 1909 S VDB. You'll never know until you search...so many possibilities!

The "Cherrypickers Guide to Lincoln Cents" is a good book to have for this project.

This would be me! but I would keep going just to see if there was something interesting in it. I would separate them by year so you could find varieties and errors easier, you only need to look through coins from one year instead of coins from many years. Have fun!
