Looks to be the 1940 reverse. Is there a serif on the second S in States? Edit: Quote: Look for the serif at the top of the S in PLURIBUS @Zurie is correct in his post below. I misspoke. It is the S in Pluribus that would be different.

Jdoe, I found that picture, too. This coin seems to have features of both reverses as far as steps go, so I'm hoping there's a more nuanced way to tell. My eyes are blurry at this point! haha

Look for the serif at the top of the S in PLURIBUS.

I thought I had posted that before, so sorry! There were so many pictures, though. Looks like it's a 1938 reverse based on this S.

Yes, that's definitely a reverse of 38. Beautiful key date Jefferson—great find!

Yes Zurie has it right the S in pluribus has no serif so it's a 1938 or Type 1

Thank you, Zurie and everyone!! I couldn't believe I found TWO of these in the rolls from Loomis this week! Definitely hanging onto both. I really appreciate y'all sharing your knowledge and in my excitement!
