I'm aware that the weight of the coin should be 27 grams.
I'm also aware that apparently the were some coins which fell short of the proper weight. Some moreso than others as if I understood correctly some of the mints workers were embezzling the silver. If I'm correct about that if anyone could give reference pertaining to what reales of 8 that were affected I would greatly appreciate your help.

This is clearly a fake. The details of the design are not regal.

Don't see anything that is saying it's fake off the bat, but lots of these coins are faked. Here are some write ups on some things to look for:

users here like colonialjohn and swamperbob have a lot more experience on these than I do, hopefully one will chime in.
There are also contemporary counterfeits which can be collectable in their own right. The edge looks good to me, though to be sure an expert needs this coin in hand. It has a look of minor corrosion or heat damage (fire). which can be an attempt to hide problems relating to it's genuineness.

I agree the coin is absolutely a fake. The weight of just over 20 grams is typical for this particular design that was sold to tourists. I have the identical coin in my collection of Modern Numismatic Forgeries.

Sorry but ZERO chance this one is real.

SwamperBob-Thanks for your cut and dry opinion. For educational purposes could you please post pictures of your "fake" coin?I'm totally new to this so showing me what your known fake coin looks like for myself would be invaluable. For if nothing else just having the pictures of your fake for comparison would be a tremendous help.I really would love learning about this in hopes to be able to better elaborate exactly why I believe your opinion that the coin is a "fake".Thanks

Maybe just a LITTLE homework, though?

It's not a "fake", as the detail is too inexact to be intended to fool anyone. It is a commonly seen numismatic tribute replica.

Compare to genuine. Note in particular the detail on the globes, the very thin pillars, the skinny lions... Aside from even those specific details, to anyone with a numismatic eye... from the overall style, "fabric", etc., this piece is a one-glance modern replica.

The correct approach is find examples of regal issues and then study the differences between them and your example. The big auction sites have many examples of these for you to view.

Lol, as noted in the previous post!
