I have (3) 1943 Steel penny that appear Mint State but under a microscope some of the areas look pitted.

Bad steel ? Re-plated ?

They don't seem replated but the pitting seems to be under the shinny top layer.

Thank you for any thoughts

Looks like reprocessed circulated coin that is starting to rust again.

Alex_C,

Looks reprocessed to me, look at the edge...is it shiny?
Also, please no photos of your scopes screen, use a memory card please.

With current images, I'm thinking both coins seem to have been altered after strike. Thanks, Doug.

Note the third picture where the cent looks shiny and unnatural. Quite common with steel cents.

Sadly, looks to be a plated (reprocessed) steel cent. There are many out there.
