Hello everyone (:
New to coin collecting and everything I know is from Google and YouTube LOL
I have this 1990P in my pocket change and noticed a DDO all along Jefferson's left side but I can't seem to find anyone with the same error...

Since I am new to the coin community, I'm not sure if a DD is considered a "one of a kid" type of error.. ha
if someone could please help with some advice I would appreciate it thanks in advance!

to the forum!

This is MD ( Machine Doubling) and very common. Not a doubled die.

First, welcome to CCF. Second, that shelf-like doubling is called Machine Doubling.

Appears to be Machine Doubling, yes. It's customary to post full, large and sharp pics of the coin's obverse and reverse; then' closer-in images. The full photos provide needed context for us. Thanks.

with MD ( Machine Doubling) on this coin.
And to answer your question - No - doubled die coins will not be a 'one-of-a-kind' error. the doubling is engraved into the die and will repeat this doubling up on many coins during its life striking up coins.

Dearborn, on more than one occasion, you have used the term "engraving", in conjunction with doubled dies, I do not understand this. There is engraving of dies, most usually, masters but has nothing to do with a doubled die (hub doubling). Hub doubling is a minting error that occurs when the working hub is misaligned or mismatched with the working die.
