I think this is closer to 55, in my opinion, and quite presentable, great eye appeal

@Slider, Thank you so much for the information. I added your wisdom to my notes! Congrats on a great coin with super eye appeal!

AU-50 / 53. I would keep it in the ANACS soapbox. Folks like those old holders. Crossing to PCGS is expensive and then CAC is another $35+ shipping.

i'd go AU50. maybe old cleaning and re-toned but it was a long time ago as the toning is already moving to the black. PCGS likes this kind of toning. Me...not so much

Super nice example. I think it's undergraded a bit.

After looking at the PCGS membership, True View photo, shipping, grading fees, and 1% crossover fees, and CAC has not accepted any regular submissions since Sept or 2022. The coin is going to stay in the ANACS holder. If the ebay seller would of had better photos, the coin would have cost at least another 4 or 5 hundred. If I did not get the AU50 ANACS, there was a NGC XF 40 1875 at Heritage that ends in three days, so I will be curious what the NGC coin hammers. My guess it will be in the same price range as my ANACS.

EF45 or AU 50 back when it was slabbed, today it might stretch to an AU53 or AU55 on a really good day for you at ANACS, maybe an AU50 at PCGS but likely an EF45 there.NGC? Haven't paid as much attention to them the past year, so I'm not up on their grading currently. A nice looking dollar for that date.
