Found this Hudson Fulton medal today - it measures 32mm and is made from aluminum.
In addition to the names Hendrick Hudson and Robert Fuller there is a date on it, MCMIX, which is 1909, and the maker "The Whitehead & Hoag Company, Newark, N.J."
Also the word Tercentennial on one side and Centennial on the other side.
I can't find out much online - perhaps someone knows a bit about it?

It was probably made for this:

I was curious because I live in Fulton County, GA, which is apparently named for Robert Fulton.

That is an oddity. I'm not seeing this piece in any of my usual spots, but do note that there is a commemorative button issued by the same company with the same portraits. Maybe this was a trial piece used by Whitehead & Hoag as their model for the eventual product given away in Troy NY? Here is a description of the button from an auction:

Quote:
1909 Hendrick Hudson/Robert Fulton Button Showing their faces side by side and printing their names are 'Hendrick Hudson' & 'Robert Fulton' This was a rare button from a celebration marking their explorations The event was probably held from Oct. 7-9, 1909 in Troy, NY and this button was given out as a souvenir to those who attended I say button, but the back is very reflective like it was meant to be a pocket mirror of sorts Marked on the edge 'The Whitehead Hoag Co.

Just found this cool site 'New York Historical Society' and used the search engine to find many examples of medals and other items from the 1909 Hudson Fulton Celebration - nothing on my piece but there are many items without a picture and one could be it!
