this coin has damage all over it. Sometimes, the metal can take a hit and be slightly moved or pushed.

All coins struck from a die used to mint coins have got to be exact duplicates. So spacing, extra letters, extra figures, etc. are not possible on coins.

So when you find something like this, it will be post mint damage to the coin.

Only in the misinformed world of ebay and youtube videos are there people who say something like this is an actual mint error the coin hobby would be interested in.

Yes the S is raised, but that appears to be normal. Here is a 1964-D and a 1939 both with the raised S. https://coins.thefuntimesguide.com/...ckel-errors/ and https://www.PCGS.com/coinfacts/coin/1964-d-5c/4076

There are however many coins out there that after comparing will look different and so you should continue to investigate and ask. There are mint marks that are higher such as the 1975-D and doubling or varieties on the coins. Here is one place to find nickels as well as the first link above has a few. https://www2.briansvarietycoins.com/listings

You can also pick up a book like Strike it rich with pocket change 5th edition if you want a basic overview of a number of the better ones to look out for instead of looking at every coin for something to start if that makes it easier for you. https://www.amazon.com/Strike-Rich-...p/0593328604
