Hello everyone...I recently came across a 1907 Indian Head Gold Eagle 10 Dollar Coin No motto. It's in circulated condition, I checked the weight and it weighs 22.1g. Is this coin gold or silver gold layered? I've looked it up amd there's no where about a coin weighing 22.1g. It looks real. Hoping someone can shed some light don't want to get my hopes up. Thanks in advance..

I apologize...hello everyone thamk you for welcoming me to your community. I'm a newbie to coin collecting, starting off small with Lincoln wheat amd memorial cents. Hoping to educate myself to gain more knowledge from everyone here. I ask a lot of questions and also like to participate anyway I can. Once again thank you.

The correct weight for this coin should be 16.72 grams. Yours is grossly over weight so that would be a forgery.

That's what I thought at first also. It was over weight and it has die cracks some Doubling. Not all coins like this one are the same. On some I have seen the letter "B" is obstructed and other it's the letter "E" in my case it's the B. Well I just got back from a local pawn shop and a local jewelry shop and they both confirmed that it 100% gold. I know I was surprised too. But there's stil the issue with the weight. I don't know what to do about that. I've researched and nothing pops up with that weight, replicas weigh 32g. I'm stumped

I find it hard to believe that your local pawn shop and jewelry shop[ both confirmed that it is "100% gold". Even if it were genuine it would only be 90% gold. You should have sold it to them if that is what they claim. I'm calling Bravo Sierra.

I know about [deleted bu staff] and every place that offers these souvenir coins I spent hours looking this coin up. Not a single place mentions the weight. One customer review says it made of aluminum. Thats why I took it to the pawn shop and jeweler and they both verified it was gold. They were also said it should weigh 16g. Still no one can explain the 22.1g. My best bet would be to sell it as scrap gold $1k for sure.

I meant its gold not the purity of it. Sorry to have wasted your community time but I think I have more important things to do than to Bravo Sierra anyone about some coin I came across. I'm just giving the information I know and just found out, if that's not acceptable we'll I don't know what to tell you. Today was my day off and just wanted to know what was up with this coin. I apologize for wasting your time and obviously mine. Thanks again
