In the US, replicas have to be prominently stamped with COPY in order to be sold. But they're against ebay policy regardless. Report this Post to the Staff
Yokozuna Pillar of the Community United States 4618 Posts	Posted 08/05/2023 12:45 pm Yes, they should be stamped with COPY or REPLICA, but then they wouldn't sell as many. I remember seeing a seller offer coins like these 'With or without the word COPY!" I see the word 'copy' on about 1% (if that) of the coins that are being sold by sellers that don't know or just don't care. It makes collecting some coins a bit of a pain for us and can make it a nightmare for the newbie. I bought a 3-coin Shield nickel lot on ebay I think I paid $20 with each coin still in PCGS body bags with tags showing 'No Holder' not genuine. The seller said he still thought they were real and suggested that I might want to resubmit the trio. I bought them so I would have an example of counterfeit coins in my collection.
