Is this a known error? I couldn't find anything like this. Thank you in advance, let me know what you think.

to the CCF and this is what's called a die event. Just something that happens to the die with age. Not an error They are called a BIEs. See if you can find it here, I'm sure it's listed. http://cuds-on-coins.com/

Indeed, small die chip. And, what does the reverse look like?

Food for thought, might be something to compare to.

Nice die chip error called BIE, all die events are errors as is this one. Search Results for "die event" (error-ref.com)
Your error looks like the LDB4-1955-003 4BL, Broken Die Error/Cuds on Coins. Note the die mark, die crack on the obverse. You can confirm this by looking at the reverse die markers, when posting coin always show full images of the obverse and reverse, (DIE CHIPS "T" IN "CENT" AND RIGHT WHEAT).
In the Hardy Index system.
Hardy Index System : Cuds on Coins (cuds-on-coins.com) a "BL+" indicates a break of less than ¼ the height of the letters that extends below the lowest level of the letters.

JC, Don't want to argue, but are they errors or not. We have experts that say no. You are the first one I have seen that says they are. I collect BIEs and spikeheads along with most of the listings on COCs. I have thousands of them. I use Cuds on coins all the time. But I don't consider them errors.

Cujohn, the debate over what is an error or a variety has been going on for years. I'm surprised I'm the first one that you've seen that calls them errors. As a BIE collector you must have a BIE Handbook for reference. Did you know the term BIE stands for "BEST IN ERRORS"?

The BIE MINT ODDITY COLLECTOR"S GUILD was founded by Joseph F. Bush in 1965. The "BIE Handbook" Edited by Howard O Hardy as published in 1972 for the Guild. On the cover of their handbook, see link below, you will see "BEST IN ERRORS".
