Hello everyone, any thoughts on this 2001 D Kennedy half? Is it a clad error or just damage. I weighed it and it's 11.15 but I think that's within the allowance. It has that copper color to it but from what I have read, it is extremely rare to find on Kennedy halves and even more rare t find n both sides. Any help is much appreciated.

to the CCF!

This is, most likely, environmental damage and staining. Missing clad on one side of the coin usually causes a weak strike with poorly formed details. It's also very rare to find a clad coin with both layers missing with only a handful ever certified. The strike on a coin with both layers missing would be very weak with shallow rims and some missing details in most cases.

Thank you everyone. I read how rare these were and from what I could find of those errors didn't quite look like what I had.

But still here is a pic of the reeding. I can rotate it and add more if needed. What are you looking for?

If you look at the edge, you can see the copper core is a slightly different copper color. You can also see where the clad layer has been dragger over the core by the Blanking Press.

Thanks for posting the edge image as it helps prove that this is just environmental damage and not a clad error.
