2001 D Kennedy Half Dollar Clad Error?

Mrichter830 Valued Member United States 79 Posts	Posted 05/21/2023 12:28 am Hello everyone, any thoughts on this 2001 D Kennedy half? Is it a clad error or just damage. I weighed it and it's 11.15 but I think that's within the allowance. It has that copper color to it but from what I have read, it is extremely rare to find on Kennedy halves and even more rare t find n both sides. Any help is much appreciated. Missing clad on one side of the coin usually causes a weak strike with poorly formed details. It's also very rare to find a clad coin with both layers missing with only a handful ever certified. The strike on a coin with both layers missing would be very weak with shallow rims and some missing details in most cases. I read how rare these were and from what I could find of those errors didn't quite look like what I had. But still here is a pic of the reeding. I can rotate it and add more if needed. You can also see where the clad layer has been dragger over the core by the Blanking Press.
