My son found a lot of old change so I'm just getting interested in it . On this quarter I was wondering if any of this damage was caused during the minting process or if it was all man-made. It just looks a mess to me.

*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. It's very important to have in the title. ***

@kay, first welcome to CCF. Second, all of the damage you see occurred after this coin was minted. This coin can be spent.

to the CCF and I call them lawnmower coins. One thing to remember is that if you have a gouge with a buildup of metal, 99% of the time it's damage.
