Howdy, I have a 2017 1$ bill with the serial number D01111770D, does anyone know if the federal bank letter and the end letter being the same makes it worth anything? Thanks!
The 1st (left letter) can be any from A to L and represents the Federal Reserve Bank district letter. The letter at the end of the serial number starts off with "A" and can go all the way thru "Z" if necessary (a couple of letters are not used if I remember correctly). Each time they run thru all the available serial numbers they just start over by advancing the right letter to the next available letter. It's worked that way for the BEP for a long time.
I don't think matched beginning and ending letters add any value to your note.
