jpsned Pillar of the Community United States 2200 Posts	Posted 05/27/2023 3:35 pm I got a roll of new nickels from the bank the other day and when I began looking through them I immediately noticed something funky about the diameter: it seemed much smaller than normal, both by sight and by touch. Indeed, in the 2023 coin show below (on the right), the left-hand rim feels somewhat pitted, and the lower side of the right-hand rim looks to be about half the size of the 2022's rim (on the left). I'm not sure how much of this comes through in the photograph, but I assure you, it would be very apparent to a seasoned collector in person. Any comments? Is this a run-of-the-mill variety or something better? Thanks. Report this Post to the Staff

The width of the rim can differ around a coin depending on the strike, etc. When you say diameter, do you mean the actual diameter of the coin is different? Report this Post to the Staff

I've been collecting for 50 years, so I think I have a good eye for that sort of thing.
