First, I want to thank all those members who helped me identify that reed strike damage is not mint damage. I am a novice in the hobby and need further assistance. Recently, I found this coin in a roll of fresh Bessie Coleman quarters. Without magnification I could see bombs dropping from Bessie's plane. The coin has few blemishes other than the Reed Stike just under the plane. I know reed strike damage is common. But what isn't common is how unique the coin looks due to the strike's location. I think it's really cool! Question: Should I get it graded?

Not worth grading. The marks are reed hits from another coin. PMD.

The location of the Reed Marks makes it somewhat of a novelty, but it's still just damage and doesn't add any value. So it definitely wouldn't be worth the cost of grading it.

to the CCF

It's going to cost you $30 to $50 for a TPG to tell you it's a damaged coin worth 25 cents - is that worth it to you?

Interesting novelty though.

My thanks to everyone who commented on my post "Bessie Drops Bombs". I knew the quarter wasn't worth much in value, but I do thing the look of the coin is unique. It is one I'll keep in my collection. Although not worth sending off, I may take Nick10's recommendation to use the community's grading subforum. Also, I am pleased that, although the damage was not done at the mint, reed strikes are random, not intentional.
