Yep a die chip on the 9. The MM is very close to the date, but within specs (under the date), now If it were touching the date, you would have something nice.

The mm is kinda close to the date, but not touching, so considered acceptable.

Back then, mint marks were placed by hand, so location will vary some. Yes, die chip(s) on the 9. What does the reverse look like?

Maybe in the center of the 9, but there's also damage making it hard to tell.
I don't think you can tell, but it looks like MD ( Mechanical Doubling)
