I recently acquired a number BU Jeff's with steps and full steps. I already have a completed Dansco albums of high AU and mostly choice and gem BU specimens, however, I don't think they have full steps. I am making up a second Dansco album and combining my second collection from a Whitman album. As I review upgrading and placement, should I even consider full steps in an album or keep them separate in 2x2. Do they have more value separately? Do they just kinda get lost in the albums?

I would keep them in 2x2's - as you already said, they get lost in albums. I doubt one can you ever get a complete album of full steps.

your choice, I use two albums, one for highest grade, the other for most steps

for the dates unknown in full steps, I simply keep the highest step count I've found

The steps of Monticello on a Jefferson nickel are often weakly struck on circulation issues (i.e., Mint State issues). Coins that have more sharply struck steps are more desired by collectors, who term these coins "full steps." Since 2004, NGC has used the 5-Full Steps (5FS) and 6-Full Steps (6FS) designations for qualifying Jefferson nickels. These designations are only used with MS (Mint State) Jefferson nickels. Proof coins are generally expected to have full steps. https://www.ngccoin.com/news/articl...eps-nickels/

So I would agree to keep in 2x2s, its really meant as a potential benefit for grading the mint state only examples to have full steps which would then be indicated on the graded holder and therefore can increase value in certain cases, but not all. You can browse value differences at ngc here https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide.../nickels/25/ if you are now collecting based on value. Many here are just collectors and therefore dont really go to that depth of comparing steps other than perhaps which one to keep as the best examples.
