Hello to all. I found this interesting die chip on a 2017-P nickel last night, which I think looks like a mouse running down the side of Monticello. What do you think? When they occur right underneath the eaves, we sometimes refer to these die chips as "hornets nests". I wonder what sort of spiffy nickname folks will come up with--your Mother Goose's mouse is a pretty good one though.  "If you climb a good tree, you get a push."

Ha! Definitely like your description of a mouse. That's exactly what it looks like. Did you spot the chip with just your eyes, or under magnification?

The original picture looked like there was a blob next to the basement window with a scratch or something. Doesn't seem to appear on the new pictures. The FS looks ok, too. Was just curious, thanks.

Please help.. I'd appreciate your assistance on my decision to grade this coin, identifying it as a "hornets nest" die chip. I'd also like to give a catchy name to the coin and see if it can be imprinted on the slab. A small problem is, I've never submitted a coin for grading.
Although the obverse looks nice and the coin has full steps, it does have a few nicks, so I realize it will not get a high grade. But that's OK, since I'm looking to identify and preserve the novelty of the coin. Also, I think I'll learn from doing this.
Getting started, is there anything I should do first to validate the die chip before I send it for grading? Also, to which grading company do you recommend I send a coin like this? Last, is there any difficulty in having a catchy name placed on the slab?
I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but your shared knowledge is really appreciated.
