XF45+ for me. And yes, nice minor misaligned obverse die.

I see no evident wear, so I'm at choice AU-58.

What evidence is there with that coin has been cleaned? I pulled that coin out of a plastic holder that I got from my father who had got it from my grandfather when he died 7 years ago. My grandfather was a serious collector and I just inherited all of his old coins. I seriously doubt he was in to clean them and I know I didn't. I would just like to know what you see that makes you think it's been cleaned @indiangoldeagle

Datguyy77...you have no idea what happened to this coin during its 105 year life span. the lighting glare makes it very difficult to assess the originality of the surfaces. with the subdued/dull toning and surfaces I can see why IGE called that the coin was cleaned and makes the coin appear to have its original skin removed. not sure if whats going on on the coat is die related or PMD. there is also something happening under the jaw on the neck without better photos I'm going with AU50 and theres a good chance it would not grade straight

On review, could well be cleaned, but I'll stick with AU-58 sharpness.

I'm at AU-58 cleaned. Cleaning often shows up as a lack of original luster, and an unnatural brightness contrast around lettering. I'm seeing some of that on the reverse mostly.

I'd go with EF45. Datguy, "cleaned" isn't an accusation. It's an observation.

The coin was also in a completely hard plastic 2x2 holder. I don't know if that makes a difference or if those are better or worse than the average cardboard folding coin holders or not.

I think your light is cutting through the outer patina. Your background looks gray, is it white? This could be an indication your white balance is also off a little. For this reason, I prefer white backgrounds. It gives the viewer a reference point.
Coin looks to be EF-45. At first I thought it might have been cleaned, this is a typical look of a cleaned coin (at some point). Lets see some new pictures - try to get your light right so the background is white and coin looks the same as it does in your hand.

Thanks. I'll try that out. I had been using a black background before but it seemed my pictures were a little too blurry when I kept using that so I tried something a little lighter cuz I had heard that the white background reflects more. But I will try it and see what happens
