Thank you, Boba Debt. When I started collecting silver coins my first purchases were ASE proofs. Eventually I started buying Brilliant Uncirculated and Certified.

Thank you very much, Mike. I'm very happy that the mint decided not to melt down these coins when they were found in the vault.

Quote: Are the " New Old Stock " Being treated special I'm not sure myself, Mike. When this small batch was discovered the mint decided to release them to certain vendors who then submitted them for grading.

Quote:I didn't realize the "West Point Hoard" included 2016 and 2017 ASE proofs I was not aware of that, cptbilly. I only knew about the 2018 Norway Silver Eagle Hoard.

Gary, I entered a query into an AI search utility: "Is there a list by type and quantity of what was in the [West Point] hoard ? Here's the response: Quote: A complete, definitive list by type and quantity of every coin from the 2019 West Point Hoard is not publicly available. This is because the hoard was sold to private dealers in a single or series of private transactions, and the U.S. Mint did not release an official manifest. However, the largest and most significant contents have been identified and documented by third-party grading services and the numismatic community. The known contents of the hoard primarily consisted of unsold American Silver Eagles from previous years that were marked with the "W" mint mark from the West Point Mint. Identified Silver Eagles from the 2019 Hoard ** 2016-W 30th Anniversary Proof Silver Eagle: The most notable and widely publicized portion of the hoard. The U.S. Mint did confirm that 183,781 of these coins with the unique lettered edge were rediscovered and sold. ** 2017-W Proof Silver Eagle: This issue was also found in the hoard. At least some of these were sold to private dealers in 2020 and certified with a special "West Point Mint Hoard" designation. The total quantity of 2017-W Proofs is not officially confirmed as a specific "hoard" amount, but the total mintage was 440,596. ** 2018-W Proof Silver Eagle: A smaller stash of these coins was also part of the discovery. According to Coin Advisor, the Mint sold 7,843 2018-W Proof Silver Eagles in a later auction in 2021.

Thank you, cptbilly, for the details of the West Point Mint Hoard.
The Norway Silver Eagle Hoard was a bit different.
"The Norway Silver Eagle Hoard is not a historical hoard found in Norway, but a collection of over 70,000 U.S. American Silver Eagle coins from 2018 that were purchased as part of an international money-laundering scheme. These coins were acquired to hide illicit funds and were later certified by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) with the "Norway Silver Eagle Hoard" pedigree, indicating their origin and use in the scheme."
