@scoo, those are some very good overall pics! What specifically are you seeing as mint errors with the coin in hand? At the moment everything I see looks like circulation wear, but I'm not entirely where to focus my attention. Thx.

At the moment--given the first pics posted above--I'm seeing a well-circulated '66 quarter. Hope to see sharp pics showing the features of interest.

This coin it is far to be a GEM coin. GEM is refer to MS65 and plus. This coin it is in his best 25. I do not see no error or variety here, just an 25 cent coin.

New Scope, huh? Very nice - the best way to capture images from it is to USB connect it to a PC or Laptop, Then start the windows Camera APP and use that program to save images. From there use Microsoft default image viewer to crop and re-size the image to be lower than the 300K requirement.

I look forward to your close-up images when you can add them to this thread. At the moment, though, I strongly suspect Pareidolia rather than a mint error.

Please don't - people are being polite, but generally... the harsh reality is that pocket change is worth face value. The good news is you don't pay much to acquire it!

Once you go to a scope, you are seeing either

* Circulation wear - normal - no added value
* PMD (Post Minting Damage) - a more extreme version of circulation wear - normal - no added value
* Trivial "errors" (on uncirculated coins) - that have no added value

If you need a scope to see it, vs. a 5x loupe, it's almost always trivial.

Even the ones you see at 5x are usually trivial die chips or small die breaks.

Question: Why is drooling George "valuable" (as in a buck or two over face)? Answer: Good PR. It's not a spectacularly rare die break or anything.

Now it can be a fun hobby to search, and it will certainly keep you off the streets and out of bars... but if you post too many trivial errors, a number of people here will just class you as "pocket change poster #12341" and ignore your threads.

Scoobynscrappy... You have the coin in-hand and can view it at any angle you want, under any lighting source you choose. You can observe features using a wide range of magnification. All we have are static photos to evaluate. If you feel you have a legit rare error coin, consider submitting it for evaluation/attribution by a reputable 3rd party service. If you do, please let us know the result.

At this point, I see a common, well-circulated quarter. Beware Pareidolia.

I run every coin under a AmScope stereo microscope. A 5 loupe isn't going to do it when you are looking for DDs and markers. I guess it all depends on if you collect just the big ones, I don't. Plus, I know what I'm looking for usually. I run 50 cents at a time through the scope. I go through bags of cents, yes it takes some time but I don't miss much. Getting to your quarter, all I see is circulation damage. And as ijn1944 said, beware Pareidolia.
