Acidic1, some people buy a coin simply because it catches their eyes and it might be beautiful. It has happened to me before. With closer inspection the coin I bought was AT but I still have it because it was so perfectly done that I still admire how the coin doc did this job. I will put a picture of it below. As for the silver dollar you have there. The lighting shows different ways of looking at it and from my little experience I would say it is AT. There is similar blue toning going all around the coin with similar pattern towards the center with very little change in color. There is absolutely no shadowing anywhere where there should be on a coin this size and the amount of detail of the portrait, the upset rim seems to be untouched by any color either. I am no pro but this is my opinion. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/...t=1239056517This Franklin is very questionable to me but I like the coin.

Steve, I'm at work now but when I get home I'll get the date when I got it. I took the first pic that day and I took the second pic about 10 minutes before the time on the post. My picture taking ability has improved somewhat also. I'll put another coin in the holder and set it in the window and see what happens. Maybe in a year I'll have another beautiful toner.
Simply...the holder covered the reverse and edges so they are bright white which leads me to believe this coin sat on a shelf, open to the light and heat while the reverse and edges were covered by the holder. It has the look and feel of a naturally toned coin. But like Dennis Miller always says "...but I could be wrong".

I have heard that this coins under a specific light like the ones in dealers shops under the table tend to tone this coins but it makes them look AT. If it toned that way then it is not AT it is considered natural. The coin is in a picture, things change when the coin is looked at and inspected in hand. I could be wrong who knows.

Steve, I've gone through my book and I must not have written that one down which is not like me. I guess I can't be sure how long its been sitting in the safe.
It has been a while though.

I really don't have any toned coins except for a few pennies and my most recent find, this toned dime. Here is a picture.
