If it was a Dryer Coin, I would think it would effect all three surfaces.

The obv shows heavy mechanical damage, whether from being a Dryer Coin or something else, it is hard to say. For sure though, it didn't leave the mint looking like this.

It's a damaged coin however the damage occurred.
