I went to pick up some food items at Walmart today with my wife, when the skies in this part of New Jersey opened up for about 20 minutes. This was rain so heavy that I couldn't have made it to the car without getting completely soaked. Amy asked me not to chance drowning or getting zapped by lightning, so she did went back for some deli roast beef, while I walked around the area by the service desk. I hadn't checked the Coinstar machine in a long time, but being as I had nothing else to do, I check the tilt basket, deck and machine top. Nothing. Then saw a couple of coins in the return drop. I'm happy to say that I found TWO collectables just waiting for there for me to find. It held a 1964-D Roosevelt dime and a 1943(P) Steel Lincoln Wheat cent, both of which were very well circulated. I was kind of shocked to see anything, but to find a pair of collectable coins? I know it's only about a buck and a half worth of silver, but it's kept me smiling all day. I'm by spruce run reservoir.. we had hail for 5 minutes and the power went out. I love coin star finds but always feel kinda embarrassed to grub around in them with people nearby.

Way to go! I always check the CoinStar machine when I buy my groceries. I've found stuff a few times, but it's almost always foreign coins, which I don't actively collect. Still, I sock 'em away--I'm not averse to free money, no matter where it's from.

John1 said... Quote: ...There is a section here on CCF just for CoinStar finds... Thanks! I searched the forum for a 'Coinstar' section before posting, but didn't find it. I didn't think to look in the 'Roll Hunting' section! If I happen to find something again, I'll add it there.

cool finds Yoko! Quote: when the skies in this part of New Jersey opened up for about 20 minutes I don't remember what clouds, let alone rain looks like anymore. Our sky here in the desert have been cloudless and rainless for over 100 days now. I do remember when we would have days of rain when I lived in North central NJ (Morristown)
