1938-One-Half-Penny;-Error-Cupronickel-Coin

Does anyone have any information on this coin? It's hard to find, any images that are similar to this one?

Is it fake or school experiment? Let the evidence speak for itself;

-its not magnetic
-slightly larger than the copper version
- Has a higher ringtone when dropped on wooden surface

I would appreciate any thoughts on of how rare is this coin. Thanks

My thoughts are it's been painted with silver paint by a paintbrush.

Hello and welcome.

My thoughts are that it's a perfectly normal 1938 halfpenny that someone back in the 1940s painted with silver paint, in the hopes it would pass as a shilling.

This was, of course, illegal to do - the law considers silver-plating or silver-painting copper coins to be a form of counterfeiting.

It seems some of the silver paint is wearing away from the high points, showing the copper colour underneath. Look particularly on the rim near the GE of the king's name.

Thank guys Sap and Basil I'll was getting my hopes up, I love a good forgery, attest an attempted one. Lol Sometimes better than the real thing, you all understand that; like my Spade Guinea, Fake.
In my research I read that they only used two coats of Nickel flash but I do think the paint is wearing a little thin.Lol What a time in History was 1938 to 1946 the end of the war and looking like a new one was about to begin, the economy was sunk just like it is Today. Lol
