@tra, first welcome to CCF. Second, this cent looks reprocessed to me and that process could have filled in the letter D/S. The mintmark could also have been flattened in circulation or even been struck with a broken post in the die. However it happened, it doesn't materially change the numismatic value of this coin though.

That looks to be an "S" just based on the shape of it... I see a hook at the lower-left of the mint mark.

It might look reprocessed because I polished it with metal polish

To CCF! Can't tell if it's a D or S mintmark. That metal polish unfortunately took away any value it might have had before. Never clean or polish your coins. It wrecks the patina and takes away value.

Never ever ever do that.
But it still looks like a re-plated steelie.

You should never clean (or polish) a coin if you want it to hold max numismatic value. Reprocessed or polished doesn't make much difference. value is gone.

Well, it only cost a penny. No big deal.

I'm curious what's going on with the W in We, the S in Trust. Also looks like all sorts of doubling going on with One Cent, USA, EPU. But that could be the polishing, reflections, some push doubling, DDD, or something else.

That's pretty common on the 1943 S and D cents.
