I found this Wheat penny in a sack I purchased back in 2022, it kind of looked like broadstrike at first but then I noticed the reeded pattern around the Rim and it made me think it could be stamped on the wrong planchet. I did a Google search and saw that the Denver Mint did mint coins in 1951 for a few countries, Dominican Republic, El Salvador and want to say Cuba, there may be more, I was just going by a pdf sheet that listed each country and what Mint was used.

What do you think? I hope it is a foreign planchet error. I weighed it and it weighs .1 Grams more than other wheat pennies.

It was an Encased Cent at one time. It was taken out of it and now it's just a damaged coin. http://www.encasedcoins.info/

Back then copper cent weight was 3.1 grams +/- .12 grams mint tolerance. I agree with former Encased Coin.

For future reference, here is a pretty good list of foreign coins struck at the U.S. Mint

In 1951 at Denver no foreign coins was strike. From where you took that false information. 1951 only San Francisco and Phil strike foreign coins and no one have same alloy as cents.

Brand I PM you the report from the Mint.

I googled "Foreign coins minted at Denver mint 1951" and both the top Search results PDF show coins being minted in Denver in 1951. I was hoping it was a error, it's just weird how it doesn't have that lip all the way around it.

Well, it's not my PDF file. It's a document from some random dude on the Internet, but it was the best one I had found during a casual google search a week ago. I am 99.9% confident that Silvio's actual Mint report is going to be way better.

Just another note, a foreign planchet would have nothing to do with a pattern around the edge. The edges are struck at the same time as the rest of the coin, and would look like normal cent edges.
