I have an 1985 blackened cent with deterioration on rim, obverse and reverse. It weighs 2.42 grams and appears larger than other Lincoln Cent coins. I have attached photographs for examination. Can someone give some direction?

Thank you,

Is it larger in size than a normal cent? If so it could be what is called a ' Texas Cent'. folks will squeeze a zinc cent between 2 pieces of leather in a vice, This will thin the coin out and make it larger - thus getting the copper plating to come off.

Probably most likely a ' Texas Cent' as stated above. PSD.

A photo with the coin in question next to a 'normal' cent might be interesting to see.

Sure has all of the characteristics of a Texas Cent.
