If it is 1964 dime, then the silver content alone makes it worth saving. Sounds like you might have got it at face value too, which is always nice.

If you can, please post an image of the full coin, both sides. I'd like to see the full image of the coin, as the detail looks like it's in really nice condition.

Got you Yokozuna! Not sure if there's a way to tag people. (Need to get used to posting still haha) but this was found in an old pile I had when I was younger and totally forgot about.

Congratulations on your first find! It's better to start small otherwise it's all downhill. Keep looking you are guaranteed to find more. I recommend switching to Lincoln cents to improve your odds.
