Was very interested in this listing, until I realized that it was a brick and mortar coin shop selling it. Pictures aren't good enough, but am sure they would be able to identify the two obverse die markers of the rare dollar. Not all Cheerios dollars are the rare one.

Someone might be crying in their Cheerios when this is all said and done.

I generally understand about the Cheerios Dollar and the enhanced reverse tail feathers.

I don't understand this post - it appears to be a coin enclosed in a Cheerios holder. Are there some Cheerios holder dollars that are simply the everyday coin and not the rarer variety?

And if so - why is a professional coin dealer trying to foist a low dollar coin on someone for over $2K bid so far?

That was my point. Not all are rare, and a dealer can tell the difference.

If it was a rare one, why start the bidding at $2,750?

If I'm a dealer, and know it's a rare one, I'm opening it and sending it in.

Hope whoever bought it got the rare one, in at least an MS67.

Might see this one again.

Oh my!

I do hope it was a legit item, for the buyer's sake.

Me too. Was only represented as a sealed original item, which it was. So they didn't lie.

It's especially suspicious since they didn't post a single photo of the reverse of the coins, only five low-quality photos of the obverse and two of the COA.

I had the same thought and had posted it until I realized that it was sealed in plastic with a cardboard backing and the reverse cannot be seen. Then I deleted my post.

That box has nightmare written all over it. Exact box just sold on ebay for less than $300. Not sure if this is the buyer, but he's using the same photos. I asked him about it, and he dodged the question.

Wouldn't take much to get the box x-rayed to see if it has a dollar coin in it. Now whether it has the rare dollar in it is a whole different story!
