The little circles look more like a sneeze spray than anything else to me.

According to several internet sources, no satin finish coins were produced after 2010. Moreover, all satin finish coins were part of mint sets. Die Deterioration can produce a fine matte texture, which I believe is what we're seeing here.

Have you checked VV for a possible DDO? The extra thickness in LIBERTY caught my eye and the die crack on rev looks pretty close to DDO-002. Does yours have doubling on Lincolns ear also?

Hi, Thank you. The thing about this coin is that it dose not show any signs of a later die stage . The strike is clear and crisp. Note. IGWT. There is not any metal flow like shown in the examples on the Die Deterioration web site. That is why I question the coin. I do know that the 2016 Mark Twain coin has a new lazer cameo finish . I wonder if the die from this coin was possibly experimented on ? I know that there is something going on with this coin. What it is I am not 100% certain. I had to bring the pixels down from 900 pix to 300 pix to up load on CC.com. I have gone through 100's of 1000's of shield cents of all die stages and have not found any coin like this 2015 D. If Mike D would like, I would love to send 5 or more BU examples to have a closer look. Let me know and thanks, Frank B.

I would have to defer to Mike on this but have seen several of these over the years, from late 90's to current day cents. I have heard them referred to as "Matte Like" finishes but have never heard of a better explanation than what Mike has offered.
