I was asked to comment. I can't determine from the photos alone whether this dollar was mechanically altered or whether this is a bifacial, unipolar grease strike. Such grease strikes do occur.
Actually, I'm kind of leaning towards it is a grease strike. The rims are not crushed as I would expect if it were pinched. Unless someone went to a lot of effort to only flatten it inside the rims.
Me too - a Grease strike. As Smoker stated, if it were mechanically squeezed or pinched, we would see a deformation of the rim and it would bulge outwards - the metal has to go somewhere (unless it was still in the collar of the coin press.)
