What are the odds that there is grease on both dies exactly opposite each other?

Not my coin or pics.

More likely that it was "pinched" mechanically while in circulation.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I was asked to comment. I can't determine from the photos alone whether this dollar was mechanically altered or whether this is a bifacial, unipolar grease strike. Such grease strikes do occur.

Actually, I'm kind of leaning towards it is a grease strike. The rims are not crushed as I would expect if it were pinched. Unless someone went to a lot of effort to only flatten it inside the rims.

Me too - a Grease strike. As Smoker stated, if it were mechanically squeezed or pinched, we would see a deformation of the rim and it would bulge outwards - the metal has to go somewhere (unless it was still in the collar of the coin press.)
