All the 1940-S DDO varieties on Variety Vista are identified by the IGWT, date, and designer initials. I think those are the close-ups that people will request. From the current images, I can't make out if IGWT has glare, Die Deterioration, or something more interesting.
Middle pair of bands on this coin doesn't look fully split to me, but I'm interested to see what others think. Here is a close-up taken from @kerr's overall picture:
"If you climb a good tree, you get a push." -----Ghanaian proverb
"The danger we all now face is distinguishing between what is authentic and what is performed." -----King Adz
I would agree that it looks more like MD or Die Deterioration. The images have a weird 2d look and pixelization. Is that close-up from a phone photographing another screen? Or maybe the phone SW zoom did that on its own.
Well, I tend to agree with the above. But if it were to be a DDO, it appears that it would be to the north. The doubling on 'LIB' is on the right side of the letters, and on 'TY' it is on the left side. no close ups of 'ER' though. Question: Would MD show movement like I described above? .
