This 1928, 20-Lire piece, KM# 69 seems a to be a little bewildering. It has all the proper specifications (15 gms. in weight, 2 mils thick and 35.5 mil diameter). The only problem is: it has a soft amber wash upon it. I see in Krause Pub. KM#70, that the other 1928 20- Lire coin ( the 10th Anniversary with the helmeted King Vittorio), that some of the KM-70 coins were done in gold and also silvered brass and considered fantasy coins. However, Krause does not mention that in regards to the KM# 69 coin as pictured. So, I'm just looking for a couple of opinions to confirm my fears. --- Thanks
Forgetting the helmet version... VERY ubiquitous and long known in the market - plus most are obvious... There are LOTS are fakes of this version around.
Not sure exactly WHAT the surface coloration is, especially from looks like scans. The guess until proven otherwise is really overt fake tone.
