When looking threw pocket change
I have came across shiny really nice looking Lincoln Cent ranging from 1982-2008, I enjoy looking at them the surface feels like silk or satin almost and the shine is almost like a glare of light.

So the question ?

What should I do with coins?
How can I keep them from tarnishing?
And are they really even worth keeping?

I'm sorry that was 3 Questions

@love, it is great fun to pull coins from circulation, especially when they seem to be a new as the day they left the US mint. You could store them in individual 2x2s or a coin album, such as sold by Whitman. Unless they happen to have a mint error or are of extraordinary good shape, they will likely be worth face value.

To keep them shiny, one of the first things to realize is oil from your fingers will stick to the surface and cause a chemical reaction that will take away the shine.

The ones you have already felt need a dip in pure acetone if the corrosion has not already started. This can be bought at Walmart in the health and beauty section being sold as "100% Pure Acetone" in the nail polish removed section. That is the ONLY item to use. Other fingernail polish has perfumes and colorants that are chemicals that can hurt the coin.

Stick them into 2X2 for safe keeping.

Remember the coin needs to be worth more than the price of the 2x2

Some great advice here on how to preserve your little treasures.
The question on what is valuable or not is a multifaceted one, and depends mostly on how much time you're willing to put into the hobby.

I hope my own story helps a bit:
When I was around 5-10 years old, I would sometimes find coins that looked like they were bleached and collect them in a jar. I had a very humble upbringing, but was blessed with a family that encouraged my interests so I was able to feel a significance in what I was doing. I kept anything that looked "different" in comparison.
Looking back on my kid collection, I had actually acquired a significant amount of errors, foreign coins, and pre-1964 silver, which were the "bleached" pieces in my childish mind.
Even the coins of little monetary value were precious to me because they helped me learn.

The point:
Honing that attention to detail in the coin itself can become way more valuable than paying attention to what others might say about it through the lens of their own experience. In fact, the great majority may tell you it's "meaningless" or "has no value" (they are only projecting).
Collect what you think looks good! Then, through much positivity you will be able to discern what is actually unique and have a sharper eye for detail in the long-run.

I only use 100% pure acetone that I can get from the hardware store - not from Walmart, if things get mixed up on the shelf or you grab the wrong one, or if you chose the 'cheapest one' you risk permanently ruining the coins.
