Ok this is hard to follow. Nice 72 DD. Can we get a in focus pic of the whole coin. Along with the rim at LIBERTY. Cointree, if this is FS104, it might not be the big one but it is really the BIG ONE when it comes to rarity and money.

Seems like I was confused by the original title
I thought it was a 1972-D, but seems it's actually a P?

@Usa Error, Seems to be a little confusion going around. Hoping I don't add to it.

Correct me if I'm wrong. The last (full) image of a 1972-P is the one your referencing. If so I can not see anything to actually match up with. Gets to blurry when I zoom in.

Might check Coppercoins (as well as the other sites mentioned). 1972P-1DO-004 or 1972P-1DO-007

Fyi, I recently ran across an interesting article by Ken Potter for Numismatic News.

Thanks, Doug.

The best I can tell from the images, it looks like 002 or 007 to me. The doubling on the coin looks too strong for 004.

Okay guys, I will follow your advice. Will clean by soaking in 100% pure acetone

Should I be thinking about getting this coin certified? Is it worth it?

Tried to correct title but will not let me do it.

Thanks again

Great find! Looks like 1DO-004 to me. Could you get a sharp close up of the date? If 004 is confirmed, I would definitely consider getting it graded and attributed.

Done. @dear, next time you can just click on the "report this post to the staff" hot link (as someone else did) and we will get right on it. Thx.

yeah - next time (like I usually do), but this time I was distracted by an under slab water leak in my house... So you can slap my hand next time.

Not worth sending to a TPG, but it's a really gorgeous example in very early die state.

Now I don't think it's 004. As stated above there is too much rotation. If it was it would be worth grading. 002 or 007 would not be.
