Looks like a legit doubled die (note: "doubled," not "double." This distinction matters when you learn more about how they occur). Congrats on your find! Is it a 70-D or a 72-D? Body of the post seems to disagree with the title.
Edit: appears to be a 72-D based on the doubling. I think it's DDO-001, but better pictures and also more shots of different areas would help confirm
Edit 2: pretty confident it's 001 based on the spread on the W. Congrats again, this is in very nice early die state. Get that in a 2x2 right away and be very careful not to touch the fields. Also, whatever you do, NEVER clean coins except by soaking in distilled water or 100% pure acetone from the hardware store (NOT nail polish remover).

@John1 I recommend using the doubling rather than die markers to match. Die markers should really only be used to distinguish when two varieties are either so similar that a definitive ID is hard using the doubling alone or else when Die Deterioration or circulation wear have made it hard to nail down a specific die without them.

First, let me thank all of you for your input. Truly helpful. Here are other photos for your review. This coin is uncirculated. I took it out of a roll in the 1970's. All of the many doubling varieties confuse me on how to value this coin. Any ideas? Again my sincerest thanks to all of you.

My apologies. The full image 1970 D with a flat 0 was uploaded in error. Here is the correct 1972 DD full image.

The title states a 1970 not a '72, can you fix your title?

It's not the big one, DDO-001 (FS-101) but it looks like FS-104 to me. Check the die markers.
Also it is obviously a 1972-P and not a D.
Congratulations!
