Looks like post-mint damage to me - possibly a hammer, but who knows.

Not sure what's going on here but is definitely PMD. I would say heat but there looks like there is extra metal, not enough loss of metal on the reverse to account for the additional metal on the obverse. By the way,  to the forum!

PSD. Maybe from a spot welder melting and reforming the metal?
