Quote: With 4 types and the typical number of proof/mint set sold annually, that equal roughly 16 million TOTAL bronze cents or about 4 million of each type. What are the four types of bronze? Do you mean the 4 designs times 4 million proof sets sold?

yes the 4 designs. You have 50,000 in a special set! Then you have clad proof silver proof, and uncirculated p&d set

Exactly. Each of the 4 designs is a different type. If 4 million sets are sold, then we'll have 16 million bronze cents total mintage but still only 4 million of each type. If you can't tell, I'm hyped about these bronze cent releases! If the Lincoln set, limited to 50,000 sets, doesn't sell out in 1 hour I'd be shocked.

Quote: This will be the hardest item "I've" ever tried to get before they sell out at the Mint.......gonna be tough land it probably ! And I'm prepared for disappointment.... The only thing Special about the "Special Set" will be the packaging The Proof Lincoln Silver Dollar will be the same 1 they just sold 300,000 of and the 4 Lincoln Cents will be the same as the ones that will be in the 2 million + proof sets

Denver is still buried in BU 2008-D Cents, so no Log Cabin Cents in circulation around here... I went to the bank, got two BU 2008 rolls, went to McDonald's, got BU 2008's in my change, went to the grocery store, got BU 2008's in my change, went to a Mexican food restaurant, got BU 2008's in my change. The currency 'backwash' of Cents returning to the Fed is a very real issue, and the popularity of CoinStar machines accelerates that process. The most frustrating thing: watching the zinc Log Cabins rolling off the presses into the ballistics bags at the Denver Mint, and not being able to buy any there!

Well, I'm kicking myself for only ordering 1 set of these for my personal collection. From the looks of ebay, they are selling for $75-$115. Oh well! :(

I only ordered 2 sets, 1 to keep in the rolls and 1 to open and search for varieties if there are any.
I am tempted to sell 1 of the sets now to fund the purchase of the next designs.
I went to numerous banks and none of them know what I am talking about with lincoln cents. So no luck getting unopened rolls from the bank for me. I've heard of people buying $25 boxes - I sure wish I knew a bank that had these.

The 1997 S Prestiege Set........same thing..... Now, I grant you, some of these "Prestiege Sets" sell for below issue price too.......but, in laying the odds and bets on this "Lincoln Special Set".......well.....only time will tell I suppose....

Very True The Coins Can Be Bought for about $200 so you are paying $300 for the Packaging. I Personally am Collecting Coins Not Packaging but to each their own

Buying "the coin" and not "the slab/or packaging" is an excellent wise standard of practice...... just not always 100% of the time .....

The Mint shows the Lincoln coin set listed in 2009 scheduled product listing as summer 2009. Is this the special set that was supposed to come out in the spring?
