Well....good luck with that !.....gettin' em' from your bank. At least here, with "my" bank, just today they said they WILL NOT GET ANY 2009 CENTS AT ALL...and for the ENTIRE YEAR THEY WON'T GET ANY !....(or any nickels either by the way) So, there won't be any " just run down to my bank" to get face value BU rolls of the 2009 Cents for me.......

That's right, you guys just keep dissing the 2009 T1 coins. Let me tell you, the scarcity has already been created and established. If you think you'll be able to walk into a bank ANY time, days, months, years from now and get "free" 2009 T1 P/D rolls, you're dead wrong. If you think, yea, I'll just buy them on ebay or from a dealer or wherever for $1 roll someday in the future....you're dead wrong again. Let me point something out for the hundredth time: Only 194.4 million P mint T1 coins were made, that's the lowest mintage since the 1955-S Lincoln and UNREAL low for a modern cent coin. The collector/hoarder demand ALONE has inhaled any coins released thus far. THE MINT WILL MAKE NO MORE 2009 P/D TYPE ONE COINS EVER AGAIN! They have to focus on making the next three type coins they are obligated to produce by law. The value of the T1 coins WILL ONLY RISE in value from here on! It's called supply and demand. So, go ahead and keep living your pipe dream that there will be billions of T1 coins and you'll see them in the "bottom of fountains" and by the "box full at the bank"..... IT IS NOT GOING TO EVER HAPPEN. Face it, if you want them, the longer you wait, the more you're going to have to pay the piper.

I am a collector who really only wants 1 uncirculated of each type and mint mark for my album. So, eight total coins. I considered buying a full roll of each but that ends up being over $50. It's looking like I perhaps should have just bought these rolls since it looks like I could hoard them, sell them, or make people happy by giving them away. But that ship has sailed. I think a good fall-back strategy is to put an extra mint uncirculated set on my subscription at the mint. If the pennies start showing up in circulation, I can re-sell the duplicate set. If the pennies are truly as scarce as it sounds they may be, I get out the scissors, put the pennies in my album and sell off the rest to all the dollar, half, quarter, etc. junkies. Ken

All I will add is I hope eagle and Badthad are right I am not going to get in a debate over why/why not this cent is going to be valuable! I am honestly tired of hearing about it and have 3 more cents to look forward to. All else aside collect what you like! Now that makes cents

194 million means that there is 1 coin for almost every American. Compare it to 2008D half dollar mintage of about 1% that. I don't see a huge premium in the long term, but I could be wrong.

Yeah I agree that 194 million is low mintage by modern standards, but it still is a LOT of pennies. I just think you have to be sensible and be careful of over-hyping the scarcity. 194 million is not scare. You can pick up some of the teen wheats that have mintages around 100 million or so for low prices in circulated grades even today! I think the price on 2009 WILL climb a whole lot more but be ready to unload yours at the right price, if you hoarded them, because when the bubble bursts, it will be hard and fast. My other point is that unlike the teen wheats that had around 100 million minted, these 2009s will almost ALL be uncirculated for decades (and decades) to come. I would compare it to the 1883 no cents Liberty nickel, which is plentiful in high grades to this day and does not command much of a price in the high-end circulated grades. And it was the first year of a new design, like the 2009 cent. Yes, there are more cent collectors than Liberty nickel collectors, but my point is that plentiful high grade means eventually the price will crash, because I do not believe there are 194 million Lincoln Cent collectors in the US. Just my opinions.

daviscfad... great photo! Quote: I am a collector who really only wants 1 uncirculated of each type and mint mark for my album. Same here. I will get mine from the mint sets if I have to, even if the mint sets are no longer the same as true uncirculated business strike coins.

... .......WOW !....that would be quite the "bubble burst" prediction.....I hope that doesn't prove to be true. For them to be worth " less" than the issue price plus shipping/handling in twenty years WOULD REALLY BE DISSAPPOINTING.

Also, very few of the hundreds of millions of these 2009 cents will be lost over time, so supply will be plentiful. Supply is not plentiful right now, because they've been hoarded by small numbers of collectors and they are hyping this thing up, hoping to capitalize on the hype and make you pay crazy amounts for a 50 cent roll. I think these crazy high prices are driven almost solely on hype, not scarcity. Again, 194 million is not scarce!

The two things we know "FOR SURE" are death and taxes - All else is speculation. Speaking of speculation, the bronze 2009 cents will be here soon. In an earlier post I guessed the mintage of bronze 2009's would be below the 484,000 of the 1909-S VDB. I was being a bit giddy but: With 4 types and the typical number of proof/mint sets sold annually, that equals roughly 16 million TOTAL bronze cents or about 4 million of each type. The much vaunted 1911-S is currently the 6th lowest mintage Lincoln Cent at 4,026,000. The 1922-D is 15th lowest on the list at 7,160,000. Clearly the 2009 bronze, Types 1 through 4 Lincoln cents will be re-writing the record books on lowest mintage Lincoln cents in history!

Yeah.......I'm just hoping I'll be one of the lucky few to get an order in for THAT one ! This will be the hardest item "I've" ever tried to get before they sell out at the Mint.......gonna be tough land it probably ! And I'm prepared for disappointment....
