Hello, first time in the forum...

I came into possession of this 1964 5 coin set, though the one that I've been hearing and reading about is the half dollar. There is a lot of information on the internet about the rare SMS Kennedy half dollar, and I'd like to get some input and opinions on the one I have.

Thanks!

All 1964 SMS coins minted are accounted for, so it's impossible for any new ones to be discovered. What you have is still a nice looking uncirculated 1964 business strike silver half dollar.

if you would like an assessment and grade better photos are needed. if you are using a phone camera you can try this. we need full photo of each side not at an angle and no overhead light or flashes

1. if coin is in holder, remove coin from holder if possible
2. turn off flash
3. place coin on flat surface with indirect natural light. maybe a window sill in a cloudy day. Use a black or white background to avoid any reflective color
4. move phone about 3in from coin
5. zoom in using your fingers until the coin comes into focus and fills the cameras view finder. if your phone has a portrait selection use that and then press and hold on the coin in the view finder to AF lock it
6. hold phone steady. if you cant then place something on either side of the coin (like books) at that distance and lay phone between them. this will hold it steady and allow you to zoom and take the photo without any blurring

Also, take your full coin pics in square format. A circular coin will fit neatly into a square picture.

Any time you have a 1964 Kennedy, you need to go through both sides thoroughly for DDO and DDR. There are a bunch that year. A mint set find would be especially nice because it will almost certainly grade MS.

On the face, the first places to examine carefully are In God We Trust and the E in Liberty. For tails, look for splits on the E in States and the tips of the stars. Also the word Unum. There are other places doubling happens (like the perimeter words on the reverse), but those are the big places to look first.
