Hello All,
Going through a bucket of change left untouched since the 90's, I found this 1993
Lincoln Cent with errors, most notable is seated Lincoln seems to be missing in the middle of the memorial columns and is struck haphazardly three columns to the right.
HOWEVER, the coins in the bucket are a mess with verdigris, corrosion, etc. Some are not salvageable but I picked out the best while sorting them to look at first. This coin is a better condition than most. The FG is also machine doubled, as well as features in LIBERTY and TRUST. On the cameo, there is a die crack or
Cud on Lincoln's forehead and temple area.
It's a very interesting coin, especially the seated Lincoln error. If there is another term for this displacement, please let me know. It seems like I'm not using the right Google keywords to pull up internet examples but once saw a coin with the reverse Lincoln misplaced while researching another coin online. I wonder if this error has been discovered on this particular coin and others, of course.
I know this is a great find and am hopeful the coin can be restored. I'm hesitant to clean it without guidance or a pro nearby. Any and all advice is appreciated.
Thank you,
Shuddle10
