Do the numbers have to be in the same order? I have one that's 46858964. Does it qualify as a bookend note?

Typical collectible Bookends -
12000012
47888847
68500685
Most have the first two digits matching the last two digits with a solid center. I've seen some with three matching digits on the end but two digit bookends are the most popular. There's usually not a lot of value in these. As you can see, these are also very close to being Radar notes.

Bookends are another along with Birthday and Date notes and possibly Flippers that arent really fancy serial numbers. Instead they are special types, perhaps calling them interesting or cool serial numbers but they may also have value over face to some collectors out there at times so they should be known and discussed.

So I agree with Steve that bookends are a type of serial number that actually has the same two numbers at the beginning of the serial number and at the end, such as this number here - 28333328 or three and depending on the rest might add some further interest such as when they are all the same like that one. If its reversed like 28333382 I dont think that is one.

I use SteveInTampa definition with two digits but not three. There should be books between the two numbers and you don't get that with three digits. The center should have a solid core and not two numbers.
