I spent nearly half my budget at today's coin show on a single note [see the thread about it here), so I wasn't able to purchase as any coins as I would have liked, but I think I managed to get a few choice specimens. 1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar: 1892 Barber half dollar (Proof): 1892 Barber quarter Dollar: [I was also looking for a comparable 1892 Barber dime, but couldn't find one. Right after the show, though, I went online and found a nice on on ebay for around $250 just to round out the set.] And then, just because I still had a little money left... 2001 American Buffalo Commemorative Dollar Coins (Proof and Uncirculated):

Wow, what a haul of absolute treasures, Barry! Did you hit the lottery or something?

Great coins, barryg! I hope you left something for me, as I will be going to the show tomorrow morning.

Hey, Hondo!
Nope, no lottery win for me. I just go to a single show each year and blow most of my coin budget for the year in one day.

I was at that show, overall very festive and well attended, but the price tags on coins were 'up there'. I don't have it in me to do that much bargaining so left empty handed. What's the deal when you really want a coin at a show but it's priced 2X what it would go for in an auction?

Barry, I keep coming back to the thread to admire your 1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar. It's an absolutely wonderful coin, and I'm quite envious of you. I'm quite fond of the "skinny chicken" and hope to add one to my collection someday.

Glad you like it, Hondo! Once I finished my standard 7070 type album years ago, I decided to focus my collecting goals into three areas: 1. Create a slimmed-down version of the 7070 album for just proof coins. 2. Expand my existing 7070 album with extra variations and earlier dates. 3. Purchase as many "key date" coins as I could. The first goal I achieved and the digital version can be seen here. The coins are all real, but the album is purely virtual. The second goal is ongoing and my all-digital expanded 7070 album can be seen here. Again, the coins are all real, but the album is purely virtual. This new coin is now featured on the third page as my earliest half dollar. The third goal is ongoing as well and my definition of "key date" shifts all the time. All my key date coins (as well as other various slabbed coins I have picked up over the years) can be seen here.

barryg, I checked out your note purchase and these fine beauties here in this thread. I like them all, and if you got them all at a decent price then kudos to you . My coin budget is a decision whether to buy a coin or a coffee from Starbucks John1

@john, I think I did OK overall, although I did end up overpaying for the proof 1892 Barber half dollar.

Just got back from the coin show myself. Was able to purchase a decent amount of world coins. Nothin fancy like the coins barryg bought, but still very pleased. However, I thought the entrance fee of $10 to be quite steep for attending a local (for all intents and purposes) coin show. Not to mention gas and lunch.
