I liked this coin. Looks like an EF40/45 to me. Don't like it when sellers angle their pictures, though. Thoughts?

I like it, Blastenpene4. Maybe even go up a notch in grading.
By the way, what are they asking or is it an auction?

No, it's for sale. Thinking about making an offer. At one time, many years ago, I was collecting one of every year and mint mark from just prior to the Civil War to just past. Wish I had some of those coins back, but they're long gone.

There may be an old cleaning that would, I think, earn a pass from a TPG. It's an easy XF, would lean toward 45.

XF45 sharpness. 1858-O is a tough date to find with a strong strike and in higher grades. This coin definitely has a strong strike.

Some minor rim issues on the obverse and an old cleaning. A few minor marks in the field to the right of the bust merit a closer inspection.

Whether it straight grades or not would depend heavily on the grader.

Nice original coin. I'm in the XF-45 camp.

We struck a deal and I bought it. A little more than I wanted to spend, a little less than he wanted to get.

Paralyse, I have read in the past that the New Orleans mint was notorious for weak strikes in many years and denominations. This strike looked pretty sharp to me, which influenced my decision. Will post new pictures when it arrives.

Coin arrived today. Right obverse field bothers me. Reverse very nice. 45 coin, but I may have to send it back. Opinions?

It is - note the scratch from her neck down to the right breast. Curved small scratch on the jaw the same as well. I can't figure it either. Pictures taken at an angle are nothing but trouble for me - just not a good representation. The other thing I hate are tiny seller's pictures. Pictures great on this, but not representative.
